Maggie Severns

Maggie Severns is a reporter covering money in politics. She takes readers inside the big-money world of campaign spending that exploded in the wake of the Supreme Court’s Citizens United decision.

Severns previously covered the 2016 elections and Donald Trump’s presidential transition. She first joined POLITICO in 2013 as an education reporter stationed on Capitol Hill, where her coverage included lawmakers’ work to fix the student debt crisis and repeal the No Child Left Behind law.

Prior to her career as a journalist, Severns worked as a teacher and public policy analyst. She grew up in Minneapolis and graduated with honors from Dartmouth College.
