John Hendel

John Hendel is a POLITICO tech reporter chasing the telecom debates dominating Capitol Hill, the White House and agencies like the Federal Communications Commission. His coverage areas include fights around broadband access, net neutrality and 5G wireless technology. He joined POLITICO in 2017 after spending several years at Communications Daily, a trade publication devoted to telecom policy.

A native of St. Louis, John earned undergraduate and graduate degrees in journalism from the University of Missouri before moving east. He has called Washington, D.C. home for more than a decade and is a resident of the city’s Park View neighborhood, where he enjoys the leafy proximity of the Old Soldiers’ Home and Rock Creek Park.
