Ben Weyl is a senior editor at POLITICO Magazine. He assigns and edits reported features, essays, opinion pieces, and Q&As, all in an effort to provide new insights about American politics and society.

Ben’s focus is broad, but it includes trends in campaigns and elections, policymaking on Capitol Hill and in the White House, and legal battles at the Supreme Court.

Ben has been a reporter and editor in Washington, D.C. since 2008. His first journalism job was at Congressional Quarterly where he watched C-SPAN all day and entered House and Senate vote tallies into a database. He went on to become an economic policy reporter covering fights over spending, taxes and financial regulation. He joined POLITICO in 2016 and spent four years as a congressional editor, where he guided the newsroom’s coverage of Capitol Hill during Donald Trump’s first term, before becoming an editor at the magazine.

A New Jersey native, Ben is a graduate of Grinnell College.
